Students Designing For Students

What if Chamberlayne was a place that inspired students' design's from the moment they walked in the lobby?

What if Chamberlayne's halls were there to truly canvas the amazing mater pieces that flow from our students minds to their fingertips?

These are questions that flowed through junior ID student's minds as they worked on the proposed redesign of Chamberlayne's lobby at Mount Ida College. The students in professor Jessica Smith's institutional design studio worked together in groups of two on a project that composed the first half of the semester. Students were required to redesign the lobby as well as two classrooms in Chamberlayne school of design.

In students Kasandra Westgate and Stephanie Lopilato's design their focus was on the students' brain's and how they utilize both the right and left side of their brain to inspire their artwork. Bold colors and artistic pieces contrasted with a grey monochromatic color scheme to balance out perfectly and depict the strategic left brain and the artistic right brain's qualities.

Canvasing students designs is what Samantha Carson and Brittany Snell derived their concept from. They washed the walls white adding black moldings to create the perfect environment to showcase students work without detracting from its true beauty. With a concentration on the industrial revolution their design was very modern and simplistic.
