Graduate and undergraduate Interior Design students participated in Enabled by Design-A-Thon in Washington D.C. last month.
Interior Design Professor Stephanie Scheivert joined the full time faculty at Mount Ida College September 2014 and wasted no time working with student activities receiving a grant that funded this wonderful civic engagement opportunity.

Mount Ida participants were split into different groups for the two day challenge and worked with several other design professionals, marketing specialists, educators, engineers and many other disciplines. Each team came up with a solution or product for a particular incapability or a product that could be used by all users but had specific problems in mind that needed to be solved.
The entire weekend was very fun and rewarding. The students and faculty enjoyed not only working with Google and United Cerebral Palsy DC, but also enjoyed exploring Washington D.C. as well.

At the Google Corporate Offices, where the Design-ATHON took place. Google was a wonderful host and had an inspiring office that the interior design students highly admired.
The first night in D.C., participants of the Design-ATHON gathered at the MLK Library for an introduction to the event and to hear from inspiring professionals who are enabled by design every day. That night set the tone for the rest of the weekend and how important we are as designers.
